These are the mountain dulcimers I build.  They are basically a typical cigar box guitar body and neck, but with a specific dulcimer scale lenght, fretboard, saddle, nut and strings.

Dulcimers have much less downbearing than standard guitars, so I can choose more delicate boxes for the body.  These thin-topped, more delicate boxes really produce a warm and loud tone as dulcimers.
